The Communist Party of Britain sends total solidarity to protesters at RAF Lakenheath airbase, which is hosting US Air Forces that are complicit in war crimes against civilians in Palestine, Iran, Lebanon and Iran. The Communist Party sends solidarity especially to those who were arrested at today’s protest for peacefully protesting against the US illegal war on Iran.
The Communist Party has consistently raised the dangers that Lakenheath and other airbases that host US military forces bring to local populations in East Anglia, Gloucestershire, Yorkshire and Cyprus by making them military targets. The use of Lakenheath, Fairford and other air bases for offensive and illegal long-range warfare and their potential for storing and using nuclear weapons pose a threat to citizens beyond the immediate Suffolk towns and villages that surround Lakenheath.
Today, Lakenheath protesters are bringing this danger to the attention of the public and their sacrifice is a public service that we support. We associate ourselves with calls to step up the protests.
