Yesterday. Today. Every day
The Communist Party of Britain expresses unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and adds its voice to those demanding an end to the genocide of the people of Gaza in what are the gravest crimes against humanity, and calls for the immediate, organised supply of medical, food and fuel to the people of Gaza.
The full responsibility for the current situation rests not only with the current far-right Netanyahu government, but as a direct result of the increasingly cruel strangling of Gaza and the occupied territories since 1967 and all the historic injustices inflicted upon the Palestinian people by Israel.
It must be clearly understood that horrific crimes are and have for decades been perpetrated against the Palestinian people daily – by the Israeli military, apartheid regime and state backed settlers. These have been armed and funded by the USA and other imperialist powers including Britain.
The Communist Party rejects the actions and statements by the British government to criminalise solidarity actions with the Palestinian people. We condemn the Labour government’s complicity in the genocide in Gaza, not committing to a full arms embargo against Israel, continuing to deploy military hardware, surveillance aircraft and warships in support of the Genocide. The uncritical support of Israel’s crimes against humanity is a shameful betrayal of the Palestinian people.
It is clear, now more than ever, that the only solution can be an end to the criminal occupation, an end to racial apartheid and crimes against civilians and the immediate establishment of the Independent State of Palestine, predicated upon the pre-1967 borders with Jerusalem as its Capital.
The Labour government’s refusal to recognise the State of Palestine is a denial of the inalienable right of the Palestinian peoples right to self determination and sovereignty.
We call on all Party members, trade unionists and socialists to support and attend solidarity actions with Palestine taking place across Britain, to step up support for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel and finally to call on the British government to recognise the State of Palestine.
It is time that the British government takes tangible action to end the genocide and to make amends of the historic and present day injustice faced by the Palestinian people.
