The Communist Party sends solidarity and wishes a speedy recovery to the victims of the attack and all those affected by it.
The victims of the knife attack were immediately treated by Hatzola ambulances run by the Jewish medical charity that was itself targeted in an arson attack just a few weeks ago.
As the Communist Party previously warned, these are not isolated incidents but are indications of the rising level of antisemitic hate crime in Britain.
We stand with the Jewish community and will always oppose those trying to spread hate and division.
The Communist Party rejects attempts to link these attacks to the movement for solidarity with Palestine in Britain. Such attacks do nothing to support the Palestinian people’s right to statehood and to live in dignity, free from fear of Israeli state violence. These attacks target Jewish people and community organisations in order to strike fear into all Jews.
The Communist Party rejects attempts to use revulsion at these antisemitic attacks to ban protests and marches calling for solidarity with Palestine. Racist attacks must not be used to legitimise this government’s authoritarian attack on the right to protest.
