“Without revolutionary theory there can be no revolutionary movement.”
Political education plays a vital role in the development and effectiveness of any Communist Party.
It provides the theoretical knowledge and method needed for understanding the world that we seek to change. Revolutionary theory enables us to respond correctly to the ever-changing conditions in which we work and informs all our policy making and practical activity.
All Party members are required to undertake political education as a lifelong process, as individuals and collectively, so that they can undertake Party work and activity consciously, with a full understanding of our own role and what is required.
The aim of the Political Education Commission is the promotion and facilitation of political education within the Party, including initiatives that have been developed nationally and by local Branches Districts and Nations. The Commission also works with other Commissions to provide specialist training in their areas of expertise.
To give an idea of the work the Commission does, here are some recent and current projects:
- A Young Writers’ Competition for Young Communist League members, organised jointly by the Commission, the YCL and Communist Review.
- A New Members’ Induction and Study Programme, to be delivered by local Branches Districts and Nations.
- Development of an extensive Cadre Training programme, with specialised modules catering for the different Party roles and areas of interest of comrades who wish to enhance their contribution to Party work and activity.
