The Communist Party’s Political Committee meeting on 25 June 2026 called for support for Simon Dubbins’ campaign to become general secretary of Unite the union.
Communists call for the labour and trade union movement to resist militarism and campaign for peace and for an alternative economic policy. Communists call for a united front against the malign influence of the far right in trade unions and in our communities. Supporting Simon’s campaign for general secretary gives Unite members a new opportunity to fight for these objectives.
Simon’s campaign is focused on protecting jobs, raising wages, stopping a far-right government from winning power, challenging Reform UK’s influence in our unions, opening the union’s books for members to inspect, and building international solidarity.
The Communist Party urges members and supporters who are members of Unite to nominate, campaign and vote for Simon Dubbins in the forthcoming election for general secretary. Unite’s role is critical to building a united front of the working-class in Britain.
