US Imperialism is bringing home the vengeance of an Empire in decline. As President Donald Trump unleashed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on US cities to terrorise domestic populations and abduct and deport immigrants, working-class Americans heroically showed mass resistance to the masked, federal thugs in the streets, airports, and public places of US cities from Minneapolis to Texas, California to New York, and Washington DC.
The murders by shooting in full public view in the streets of Minneapolis of 37-year-old mother, Renee Nicole Good, and 37-year-old nurse, Alex Pretti, by ICE agents are only the most notorious of a catalogue of brutality and fascist terror tactics being meted out against a civilian population. The Communist Party salutes the general strike by the US labour movement, including the Minnesota AFL-CIO, UAW, SEIU, UNITE HERE, ATU, teachers’ unions, and many others on 23 January 2026. Communists stand shoulder to shoulder in mass people’s action in the working-class resistance to the fascist ICE.
ICE is the creation of President George W. Bush’s so-called “War on Terror.” Established under the 2002 US Homeland Security Act, it is the largest arm of the Department of Homeland Security and has received bipartisan support under both Republican and Democrat administrations. But it is Trump’s civil war unleashed on working-class Americans that has shown US imperialism’s bloody face to the world and to its own citizens.
The Communist Party sends solidarity to US workers resisting ICE fascism. We remind workers in Britain that Trump’s followers have called for a British ICE. Nigel Farage has boasted that a Reform UK government will deport 600,000 migrants in a 5-year parliamentary term—almost 1 per cent of the UK population. This would necessarily imply paramilitary policing of Britain’s towns and cities and the physical suppression of civilian populations.
The Communist Party calls for a united front of the working class against racism and fascism. We call on workers to come to the streets in large numbers to support the national rally Together Against the Far Right in London on Saturday 28 March.
